Youth development through a Capacity Building Training Workshop in Hatcliffe

The Institute invested in Youth development through a Capacity Building Training Workshop in Hatcliffe. The preceding years have seen the proliferation of youth entrepreneurship and business, it was however  depressing to note that most youths failed to reach their full potential due to the lack of soft skills and diplomacy to handle their projects. It is on this foundation that the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy decided to to harness and empower the youths through a capacity building workshop that was held for the Genesis Entrepreneurship Trust on 7 July at the Hatcliffe Community Hall.

The Training was meant for reshaping and rebranding the youths into great citizens destined to play a new critical role in making Africa and African endeavours more civil. The facilitator and short time mentor, Mr V. A Chikanda imparted participants with the necessary skills to handle themselves in business and in private lives; positive thinking, sexual discipline, oral and mental hygiene.

The participants familiarised themselves with skills of how to be a professional and personal selling brand. They also had an amazing discussion on how to become a Lady or a Gentleman and were taught how to dress appropriately to show as well as command respect from others.The youths also embraced themselves with acceptable social behaviours, protocols and etiquettes.

The Training workshop also covered issues of communication were they were coached on how to communicate effectively and confidently when introducing themselves, meeting new people, giving job interviews and even in public domains.

Mr Chikanda commended Genesis for investing in youth development because they are the future leaders. He enunciated that Business needs the wisdom and calmness of the old man as much as it needs the audacity and energy of the young generation.The mind is not a vessel that needs filling but a wood that needs igniting, what the Hatcliffe youths achieved inwardly will definitely change the outer reality.
